Creative Contracts & Counsel

Creative Legacy Counsel

Your art - whatever shape it takes today or tomorrow - is part of your legacy. Make sure it is protected.

WHO THIS IS FOR

For the emerging artist, the multi-disciplinary creative, the college student with their first deal on the table, and the independent creator who has been building something real without the legal foundation to protect it.

The creative world moves fast. Contracts land in your inbox before you even know what to look for. CLC exists so you never sign your work away without understanding exactly what you are agreeing to.

This service is for creatives at every stage, not just the ones who have already made it.

WHAT ADVISORY AND COUNSELING MEANS

Advisory and counseling means we help you understand - not take over.

We review your contracts, explain what they mean in plain language, and help you make informed decisions about your creative work. We do not negotiate on your behalf, communicate with other parties on your behalf, serve as attorney of record, or represent you in disputes.

Our role is limited to the advisory and counseling services described in your engagement agreement.

You remain in control of your creative decisions. We make sure you know exactly what those decisions involve.

GOOD TO KNOW

  • CLC covers creative contracts, including recording agreements, licensing deals, collaboration agreements, performance contracts, publishing deals, and similar creative industry agreements.

  • CLC is not the same as business contract review under our DML package. DML is for solopreneurs building business infrastructure. CLC is for creatives protecting their work.

  • Creative contract review means we review the agreement you provide and explain key terms, risks, rights, obligations, payment terms, ownership issues, usage rights, credit, termination, and questions to consider. It does not include drafting, redlining, negotiation, or communication with the other party unless separately scoped.

  • Each tier covers the number of contracts included. Additional contracts beyond your tier require a separate conversation.

  • Contracts involving rights assignment, exclusivity, royalties, publishing, recording, licensing, management, merchandising, revenue sharing, multi-party collaborations, union issues, or unusual risk may require a higher fee or separate scope.

  • CLC may include issue spotting around ownership, licensing, usage rights, and creative control within the contract reviewed. It does not include trademark prosecution, copyright registration, IP enforcement, infringement analysis, takedown strategy, litigation, negotiation, or formal dispute representation unless separately scoped.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Every CLC engagement begins with an intake form and a discovery call so we understand your creative work and what you are navigating before your first session.

  • Contracts are submitted and reviewed in advance. You will never sit across from someone seeing your agreement for the first time.

  • You will leave with something. Whether that is a plain-language memo breaking down your contract, a clear next step, or a referral to the right resource, you will not leave empty-handed.

JUST NEED ONE CONTRACT REVIEWED?
Starting at $350

Sometimes one contract lands and you just need to know what you are signing before you sign it. If you are a college student, an emerging artist, or a creative who needs a single contract reviewed without a full package commitment, we can handle that as a standalone service.

What’s Included

  • One creative contract review, up to 15 pages

  • Plain-language explanation of what it says, what it means, and what needs attention

  • Guidance on questions to ask before signing

  • Written summary memo delivered within 2 business days after your session

Good to Know

  • This service does not include contract drafting, redlining, negotiation, representation in disputes, communication with the other party, or contracts exceeding 15 pages.

  • Contracts involving rights assignment, exclusivity, royalties, publishing, recording, licensing, management, merchandising, revenue sharing, multi-party collaborations, union issues, or unusual risk may require a higher fee or separate scope.

  • Need help making sense of more than one creative deal? Our CLC packages provide structured, limited-scope contract review and counseling starting at $550.
